She's come a long way...

Last night my husband and I met Heather in Orlando for dinner. This was the first time my husband had seen her in 6 months. It was a wonderful dinner - but the most wonderful part were her positive changes. This is the second time I have seen her (the other was over a month ago I think), so she is staying the course.

She looked great - no dark circles under her eyes, skin was clear, hair & make-up were done, nice clean outfit.
She didn't talk about any nonsense. Spent most of last year thinking, what in the world is she talking about??? But everything she discussed last night made sense.
She didn't blow up at me/us, or get nasty. Didn't ask for money or help with anything.
She was on time!!!
etc etc etc

I just can't believe how far she has come! ON HER OWN ACCORD!

She talked about wondering what people thought of her when she was on the drugs, (like looking back now she can see more what she was doing) and if they can see the difference now.
We were like, Uh Yes... duh...

She said she is trying to never smoke pot again in her life. So I am guessing she is drug-free (besides her prescription meds). She said her guy-friend (her only friend left in Orlando) has been off Oxy for three weeks and she is trying to help him through it and to stay off.

On the drive home I felt so much peace and happiness on one hand, then some nervousness on the other, like is this really true??? She seems too good to be true. But, my husband and I are in agreement, she's either off drugs or the best actress ever!!! Because, in addition to this being my second positive (perfect!) dinner with her, she has been consistent in good phone calls too. Thank you to everyone who has been praying for her, I really feel the prayers are what have gotten us to this point. I know God is working!

  2. This is wonderful heartwarming news! I know the peace in one hand and nervous in the other feeling...enjoy the peace until you have reason not to. It sounds like she's done some growing up in addition to staying away from the drugs. Hoping and praying she stays on this course!

  9. Just for today, enjoy all of this good news and hope. Keep your mind from wandering through the land mines of doubt and suspicion - they are a total waste of time and energy, and rob you of any joy you may be experiencing today. Just for today, smile, and relax, and be happy for how far your daughter has come. Peggy

  10. Yea! The bubble might break, BUT it might also get stronger. Don't anticipate trouble. I hope you have been able to hold onto your joy that you felt on the drive home.
Apparently, Heather also feels good. Her actions are speaking loud and clear - on time, dressed and made up and conversational at dinner.
I am so happy for your family.
